we had our third fox of the season on sunday. went down to my mates place in the midlands on sunday. weather was shxt but what can you do. hounds found a fox early on but heavy rain made scenting bad and we lost him after a short hunt. most foxes were to ground due to the weather.
as we hunted along we passed a massive pile of bog oak and brambles and i knew it was a modle for a fox. sure enough my mates terrier was soon searching with gusto. in no time we could hear her at a fox under all the oak and peat. the hounds also tried to get in to the fox and the crys of the harriers made the fox think its time to move. he bolted but ran to ground about 100 yards away in a ditch. my hound special marked the hole and we entered the terrier again. in no time we accounted for a large dog fox. grand hunt with terrier and hounds playing their part. happy days.
Well done whitser, i didn't have the beagles out at all at the weekend due to the weather conditions. Perfect for terrierwork. I bolted one on saturday. Had two good digs on saturday and a handy bolt on sunday. Getting to the time of year that they are using the burrows now regularly
its good weather fro some underground foxecution alright. i take the hounds out hail rain or snow, even if its just for the exercise. good to let them mark the holes and rag the carcass after the dig.
