The population of rabbits in this area seems to be getting worse and worse every year its a joke. Nearly sure it is mixi and not over hunting. I remember fields that were riddled with rabbits a few years back. Ballingarry in limerick was over flowing with them and nothing now. Sad state of affairs. anyone else from this area know of any decent locations? Id be interested in heading out with them for bushing, ferreting, lamping, coursing anything.

When I read that, I thought ye were about to say ye were Plagued with the things!

Unfortunately, you're Much better off than Leitrim    Round about me, seeing a rabbit is a once a year thing. Literally! I have hundreds of acres of written. I look out over god knows how many of them. Nothing moves out there.

Ye say Myxi? If that were so, and ye a Field Sportsman, don't ye think ye'd have seen the evidence? Myxi strikes and the bun's don't just go home to die, like a bad apocalypse film. They stay around and remind us.

We had Myxi here, back around the eighties, so I'm told. I'm sure that devastated the bun's like it did in england, when it was first introduced there. 99% knock down.

Personally, I believe it's now the " Shoot the eyes " and " If it moves; Loose the Dogs " merchants   who just aren't giving them a chance. " Ditch Slingers ".

By all means give me another scenario. But, please; Make it one in which an animal with the rabbits legendary fecundity can simply Not claw it's way back. And we don't see disease riddled rabbits, dying or dead, littering the grounds.

Interestingly; I know a place, just outside a developing town, where I've seen a field brown with rabbits. But it's not the sort of spot one could comfortably fire a gun or run Dogs. No Myxi' there. And I don't tell where it is.
