Went out today with a few mates, 3 ferrets and 4 dogs.

We keep hearing of places around here being 'lifting' with rabbits. The land owners ask us over to sort them out, when we get there, we're buggered if we can find any!

Anyway, went to two new permissions today, the first of which was a stables at a place called 'Clarbeston Road.' A good 30 mile round trip to get there, and we saw a mighty impressive 4 rabbits, and we couldn't find any buries that weren't in about 6 ft of cover!

The only thing of note that happened there, was both me and my 5 year old son got belts off an electric fence! I got one first, cursed, then turned around to see my boy take a full hold of the rope to pull himself up a bank! I shouted, but the poor little bugger had already caught a firm grip of the rope, and of course, couldn't let go. I had to grab him and physically pull him off the fence. He was a bit shaken, more by me shouting, and was right as rain about 15 seconds later!

We then went to the next permission, where the terriers pushed a rabbit out of a hedge, and into another. We shouted the terriers, and directed them towards this large bramble patch.
There was a lot of exited yips coming from inside the bush, followed by an ominous squealing noise, result! I waded into the hedge & pulled out a coney, which happened to be the only one we got!

We then found a bury that was quite accessible, so we thought that we'd give it a go, as I had one of my young ferrets out, and wanted to try her.

We netted up, and I put my mates locater collar on my jill and sent her in. A short while later, I had a quick scan with the Mk1 box, and found that the ferret didn't seem to be moving. I thought the ferret had killed, so I was preparing to dig, and my ferret popped up somewhere else, minus the collar.

Seeing on how the bloody things are so expensive, we spent the next two hours digging 4ft through rab to retrieve it, :bang: and people wonder why I don't like using fecking collars & locaters!

We then walked round a few more fields, then decided to call it a day. I went back to retrieve the rabbit that we caught earlier, but bugger me, I couldn't find it again!

Cracking little read there, Malters; I enjoyed that! And, oh, how I sympathise!

Every f*cker in england sees a rabbit (A rabbit) and they have Watership bloody Down on their ground, eh? Been there. Done that. Explain the sense of one good man with an air rifle! Done that too. Problem solved and every body's happy - except the couple of rabbits!

Electric fences? I use them myself, because I need them. But I know where mine are and I have access to the On / Off switch! Christ I've had some fun with neighbouring ones!

Two hours digging after a ..... Let's not go there!

its not just england ditchy. I have a couple of mates up here who have asked me to sort out the rampant rabbit problem they have. I have been up in the morning, afternoon, evening and out for a shine. nothing. not a poop, bent grass or scraping. I recon he saw 1 passing through and is now paranoid about his newly planted trees. I keep going by every now and then but always the same result, nothing.
