What a mad day! Seen an advert for some Beddi/whippet pups on another hunting site, and recognised that the number was local. (Pembroke Dock)

I sent a message wishing all the best with the sale, and that if my wife wasn't due in 5 weeks, I'd have took his hand off for one of them!

A few hours later I received a PM, saying that if I could give one a good home, I could have one for free!

So about an hour later, after showing the wife the customary photo and the usual, 'Oh aren't they cute love?' comments, I'm now the proud owner of my first lurcher!

His name's Buster, (the wife named him as a condition of me getting him, can't really complain! ) and he's 10 weeks old.

My dog on right of picture.

Good luck with him, mate

Personally, I never have and never will understand this thing about, " The wife's expecting so I have to get rid of all my Dogs / can't get a new pup ". WTF is that all about??? Dogs don't habitually eat babys. Good god, if they did? I wouldn't be here for one.

Anyway, as I see it, now's the perfect time for ye to get a pup. Now you'll have something to distract You whilst ye wife gets on with Her new thing.

Even better, it ensures that kid'll have a Best Friend to grow up with. Who could ask for more than that?

Yep, totally agree DS mate!

I was brought up around dogs, we always had a dog in the family for as long as I can remember, yet my younger brother has just become a dad, and hits the panic button whenever a dog goes within 10 feet of his baby!

I've said to him that there was always a dog around him when he was a baby & he turned out OK, (well pretty much OK, but that's another subject! ) but will he listen?

Pup is coming on good now.

Not done too much with him, except take him out ferreting a few times, and had him out twice with the air rifle & lamp. He done well out on the lamp, caught two runners, once on each night.

He's now 21" TTS, @ 7 months old. Don't think he'll get much more hight, but I think he'll be plenty big enough for what I want.
