What the f*ck's That all about then??? Seen it advertised in the Farmers Weekly. Ye get to Poison rabbits here? F*cking Hell! Wow!

Anyone know anything about this shit? What's the Active Ingrediant? How's it work? What's it look like?

I really haven't got a clue as I've only read the advert saying ye can knock them down with it before they get a build up. Wouldn't dream of using it myself ~ no rabbits on my ground anyway! But I'm absolutely fasinated!

Anyone?

this type of bait will destroy a lot of good shooting.. we the pro hunters should attack the farmers stores that sell this shit.. farmers would only have to ask and lads would come down to keep vermin at bay.. Next time you see this shit for sale in the shop put a sign on it shooter for hire. cost 0.00

Ivan; Is that to suggest you're familiar with this shit??? I mean, in my own local Creamery they sell Alpha Chlorolose as crow and pigeon poison - That amazed me! They also sell the usual rat and mouse baits. But no sign of this rabbit shit.

I'm a Pest Controller, mate. NOT that that means I'd ever want to poison f*cking rabbits! I wouldn't even shoot one around my way. God forbid! I wish there were more of them than there are.

Local intelligence says it was myxi that razed the rabbits here abouts. Now ye've got me reviewing the subject, I wonder? Could it be humanely possible that some concerted effort with shit like this had Actually been what cleared hundreds of acres Completely of rabbits? I mean, I'm from uk. We have myxi there. But ye still Saw rabbits, even those with myxi. And Some always survived or moved in or what ever. But here? Around me? F*ck all.

I think I'll start making some discreet enquiries .....   Mheanwhile, see above: Any idea what this stuff's called? What it contains? Anything ? It just reminds me of some stuff they used in Australia. Could well be the same thing. I'd just love to tell my british counterparts about this shit. They'd be mortified! Sometimes Eire seems like not just another country, but a differant World!

I've seen the stuff in local co-op & agri-chemists.

No idea what the active is, but I know people who have used it.
Now, before we all start ranting and raving about how much of a disgrace it is and how there should be other ways of controlling them, ponder this:

There are not enough people who can efficiently thin the rabbit population in some parts of the country.

I know, you're a whizz at it, your mates are, you come from a long line of rabbit hunters, whatever, you are not nation wide, you're not even like Shaws (almost nationwide).

Even on my own patch, where two of us thin the coneys, my brother and I, we couldnt keep up last year. Too much ground to cover, not enough time. And in addition, with new houses every-damn-where, shooting isn't always an option.

Snaring is only feasible if A: you can actually do it, B: you have the time to do it right.
Ferreting, well, I'm not sure about the midlands and north of the country, but you could fit everyone who uses ferrets here in a small room.

So, while I don't like it, I can understand why someone who's new-sown grass/arable crop of your choice is being chewed to buggery will resort to it.

jesus man i'll pitch in every wk-end i get a chance.. Two mate have ferrets and one mate has a red tailed harris hawk. I have two
border collies and hundreds of snares and 33 fenn traps.. i curenntly waiting on a FAC for a .22lr and a .22 wma.. not trying to be smart here but do you know that you can hunt rabbits with an airrifle, sure i'm sure to be sure.. That might answer the prob with shooting near new houses as the .22 pellet only has about 1.5 joules of energy left at 100 meters, ithink it takes 5 joules to punture the human eye.. I would also think that there a feckall mink up your way if the rabbits are out of cotrol.. Iknow that the doe,s will be starting to get milky at this time of the year but they''ll still go down as good dog food and good dog training for the collies.. You lads must up there must have shoot all the foxes,
in terms of .22lr's you can also get .22bb cap shot, a lot of older lads i knew once used to use it for shooting of pigeons in trees, it onlt fires as far as a shoot gun.. I have a large selection of .22 amunition already (for display purposes only ie euducation!) i will stick a photo up here.
PM ME
Seriously man drop me a pm. i,m the man with the snares you,d be helping to keep a tradition going that my gradfather taught me.
