DIGGING TIS'MORNINGwent out for a run tis mornin to a moss near by... tested the old faithful (or so i thought) mk1 locater and all was well... by the time i got to the earth i could see there was a bit of activity round it so i put in the wee russell bitch and tied up the red one... i was just in the process of locating her when the box starting making a screeching sound and i couldnt get the bugger to give me a reading... i couldnt hear anything either and then i looked round and the flippin red dog worked the searcher out of the ground and all i saw was the end of his lead disappearing down the entrance .... i spent a couple of hours hoping to hear something but heard nothin and the whole time the damn box just kept screeching away... then the red dog showed and i got him tied up properly and about 20 mins the wee russell showed up too so i managed to get hold of her and thought its just not goin to happen today and headed back to the car only to fall over barbed wire and then discover i had a flat tyre.... what can ye do?? if you cant laugh then ye can only cry 
here's a pic anyway, they're only young so i hope it doesnt put them off any

Sorry mate but, I did snort when I read the bit about the barbed wire!  Then a flat, just to top it all off, eh? Well; They do say 'It comes in threes'!

Mk1s are a bollox around overhead cables or electric fences,any of those about?

i dont think there is mate, at least i never noticed anything... i've been testin it lately and its goin fine... i remember a few years back it let me down but i managed to break through anyway... i changed the cap on it and it was workin well since then...
i have to say it's always been a useful bit of kit, i would say over the span of about 15 years its only let me down about 3 times... when i got my car license 10 years ago it was on the go every weekend with out fail...

we've had problems with the mark 1 near elec fences alright. my mate has the bellman & flint system we use that now its fcuking brilliant. its expensive but its worth it. having said that i havent got one buts defo on my to do list.
