Last I heard was ages ago, mate. Two things: On tv they had an interview with some mug who was swearing blind they'd never get his SBT bitch. Then they showed the strobed action shots of her playing Tug O Lead with the guy. All glistening black fur and gleaming white teeth. They'd may as well have gone the whole hog and over layed a sound track of snarling Dogs and screaming children!
Then there was the bit about how a load of Dog owners had turned up to stage a peaceful protest outside the council offices ~ and Dublin City Council simply refused, point blank, to acknowledge their presence. Period.
There's something behind all this. Not just some one (and I heard, before I even came here, that just One MP with an axe to grind had pushed through such Breed Specific Legislation as we then had). I suspect that 'Something' is Big Euro's.
Is that a feint whiff of PeTA I can discern on the breeze there ....?

The guy pushing this is a Labour councillor called Kevin Humphreys. He wants to ban all such dog breeds nationally.
Dublin city council want to take the ban further and ban such dogs from all public areas under it's remit, such as parks. So, even if you live in private housing, you won't be able to walk your dog. They've also asked the minister of snowdrops and daffodils to implement a nation-wide ban.
There is something bigger at work, I get that feeling too. It's not common that we see such a clever move out of a local council or corporation.
It would be interesting to find out the make up of the council body responsible for this edict and see if we can determine any other influences...
