Hello there,

My name is Martin, from the Netherlands. Have a SBT 6 years of age called Buju. And am trying to learn more about hunting aspect. Just like to read a lot, and try to learn a bit here and there.

Forum looks nice. Hope it takes off well.

Regards, Nash.

Hullo, Nash. So, are ye interested in hunting with Buju, or just hunting in general? I've kept Bull 'n Terriers myself for decades now and have certainly had them hunt and catch rabbits. One Dog in particular had a complete obsession with birds

Be interesting to hear what the craic is with hunting in the Netherlands. I once heard something to the effect that ye not allowed to set traps there?

Well, Buju isn't that much of a hunter. Except for my pet bird he once bit his tail off from. His dad is awesome though, saw him catch a few goose, and chasing hares like nuts. So i was wondering in future, how you can introduce a dog to hunting properly. Not getting too much time right now to read that much about it. But sure will do in future.

Laws here are crap in general mate. Haven't looked at them yet. But will get into it. There are some hunting societies around here, and i'm getting on forums a bit to read in. Thnx for the welcome and i'll be checking in every now and than.

Nash, in my experiance of Bull 'n Terriers hunting mate, the only thing ye really need to do is let them mad little buggers down in some place where there's something they might find to murder!

You may be amazed at how well they can sniff out quarry. Once they scent or see it, off they go. The only thing I would say is to try and keep Buju on ground where he can't find a way of harming himself.

Those Dogs can be totally fearless and even reckless. I once had one run off a blind point and, were it not for some well placed, horizontal, bars ~ to stop kiddies doing the same ~ he'd have fallen down one hell of a drop!

In a word; Single minded! So watch out where ye let him off. Roads, railway lines and deep holes will mean nothing to him once he wants something.

Mheanwhile; Better get to know ye laws, man. Crap they may be ~ and usually are, from out point of view ~ but break one and the buggers could end up breaking you and ye Dog
