DitchShitter

Cobby little bugger, but he looks strong for it. His muzzle certainly drew my eye too! Looks a right cruncher!

What do ye do ~ or plan to ~ with him, mate?

JRT, I'm So f*ckin sorry, mate! I was sat here the other night enjoying a real good chat back to ye. Then a VIP family call came through on Yahoo and I was gone. I shrunk this page and continued dealing with the other business, then was asked to look at ..... When I realised what I'd done I tried to get back here; But my post had been lost

Now, where the hell were we? First of all, my referance to his muzzle. I meant his 'mouth'. It looks to me like the sort of mouth I'd Love to be able to transpose onto my own JR bitch, mate! F*cking lovely mouth! Looks good and strong. Powerful jaws to munch what ever wants to munch at him.

Ye'll hear terrier boys talking about a " Good Head " or a " Snipey Jaw ". Well, my own bitch has a snipier jaw. Like a birds beak. No sense of power in it. Like a womans hand. Where as that Dog looks ~ to me ~ to have the sort of jaw that equels to a Firm 'Handshake'. I reckon he'll be death to any rat he munches down on and will certainly have the right equipment to use on a fox.

But anyway, if ye have no foxes and aren't obsessed with digging holes after them anyway? So what? I've had more fun than I could recount just mouching about with a terrier and never carried a spade.

Want to find rats? Look to the farms, mate Right now the rats are still pretty much out in the fields and hedgebanks. But they're just starting to invade the outbuildings again. I think they're the first wave. Looking for the ways in and the choicest places. Good time for you and ye young'n there to get established too

How's he on cats? If he wants to chase and murder anything that moves, make sure ye keep him on a lead when ye go asking. Round where I am, cats on farms are barely known. People here keep JRT's. Try to find yeself a nice, small, 'part time' farm with no cats and no terrier. They'll have rats!

Do ye thing. Convince the man ye safe to let take a look around, with ye Dog, and do just that. Look at where walls meet ground ~ inside and out. Let the Dog sniff around and show you what's going on. Help him out by shifting that pallet aside (remembering to replace it where it was afterwards) Lift things. Move things; and it shouldn't be long before one bolts and all hell breaks loose!

Only here's a tip from a man who's entitled to wear the damn t shirt; When ever ye messing with rats, Wear Gloves! Bog standard 'work gloves' will do. As would 'Marigolds'. Some guys may tell ye ye look a c*** wandering about with pink hands on? Take it from one who's been there: Ye'll look and feel a far bigger c*** laying in an isolation ward, with ye kidneys going into free fall as Weils Disease rampages through ye vital organs!

And that's why taking a hip bottle and little bowl, to offer ye Dog a periodic lap of water's a good idea. Saves him needing to drink out of puddles the rats have pissed in

Cheers for the replys, i reckon he might grow abit more, "12" in height, who knows at 9 month now he might have a tiny bit more to grow!?
When he gets hold of something he wont let go, his jaws must be quite strong because he can carry his own body weight with them by dangling off a rope or toy.
thanks for the rat tips DH i will try that out, was told to feed him all i can now when hes young, hes on raw and has been since he was 3 months old, he hates cats, nearly had are naybours cat the other week, so cats wont come in the garden anymore, glad coz i dont like cats anyway, but also glad he didnt get hold of it!! hes fine with other dogs, but if they try to get bossy, he can be abit stubborn and sometims he will snap.. hes very clever, dont know f this is the case with all jacks though? im very happy with him.
a close head view of him 9 months
