Co. Leitrim here mate. As I've probably said here, before now, I'm told we got hit by myxi back in the 80's and have simply never recovered.

Longford had plenty of rabbits, last summer. What's going on between us? I'd have no idea.

See any Brown Hares or Pine Martens your way? Carrion Crows? Grey Squirrels?

Not exactly ferreting material, I know. But I'm fasinated!

plenty of carrion crows around our way and we are mobbed with greycrows and magpies in county laois. i havnt seen to many grey squirrells so i havnt to be honest.
i have seen about 10 - 15 brown hares this year so far but i dont think numbers are too bad. such a lovely creature it would be a shame to see them gone off the wildlife list as they are one of irelands oldest mammals and they were here even before the ice age.

" Plenty of Carrion Crows. "    Forgive me, Steve, but; Do ye consider there to be a differance between a Carrion Crow and a Rook? Only, in scientific terms, one might expect Hooded (What's known as Grey) Crows, Magpies, Jackdaws and Rooks and Ravens around Eire. I'm honestly not sure about Jays. Being as ye have 'Plenty', I can only surmise ye might be calling Rooks 'Carrion Crows'? I've heard others call them simply " Black Crows ".

Only Carrion Crows don't really belong here - or in Scotland, I believe. But 'John Galway' mentioned sighting a genuine CC. I'm just wodering where it came from.

funny iv just always considered carrion crows your everyday run of the mill rooks. not the best thing to say about myself as i spend two months of the year decoying them!
