Cool! What gun(s) ye using there, mate? Shotgun or rifle?

I carry a .22 Hornet (Centrefire) rifle myself these days. Does everything I've asked of it amongst these small fields

I wouldn't mind another 12 Bore or .410 about the place - it'd have its uses - but I can take care of most, and so many more, situations with the rifle.

Fact is; I'm so useless with a 'swing and fire' I'd never dream of using one with my Dogs in the vicinity

I have a runny / hunty sort of Dog here ( " le Ding ", as he's come to be known ), only there's really bugger all much for him To hunt. I have Zero rabbits even close to my permission - wouldn't say no to an influx   - and the hares, while present, are respected by the people around here. We leave them alone.

What sort of terrier ye got? What's that ones role? Busher? I need a terrier myself. Indifferant to what type, frankly. As long as it isn't too interested in getting down holes I'd have to dig it out of!    Rats R Us. Anything much bigger I'd just as soon shoot. F*ck digging it out of the ground. I haven't the strength or energy for that caper.

Deer!      Everyone and his uncle seems to be out bagging Roe right now. I'm absolutely seething with envy! I haven't had the oppertunity to shoot anything edible in years. If I could set out to bring back a deer? My god; I'd never be indoors!

Last year, during the rut, I had a red stag come onto my land and, just for the craic, I went after him. Just playing Hawkeye the Hunter. But then, unimaginably, I found myself peering at him from about forty yards or less with the cross hairs on him! Self control and training got the better of me though   I could have .....

Whilst I'm taking it .222 is only allowed for Roe ~ in england? Wouldn't know about north of the border but, I believe you're allowed more with less up there? I honestly haven't got a clue what the rules are over here.

Way it's going though, if my next license renewal (under our new laws) goes through smoothly enough again, I may well be tempted to look into something deer capable. Only thing is, I'd then have to figure out where they get to round here.

Anyway .....
