Foxes.... They fly in dry cover but in the big bogs they are not ideal as they aren't quick enough and can't get right up the foxes arse like a harrier cross would do. Not complaining though cause i don't have the men to cover big places anyway. In clumps of whins they are deadly and they are handy gathered up. Not one for show dogs but they are two lovely lookin beagles into the bargain. Where are you from lad
north county dublin, but i hunt all over. i've 2 hounds this will be their second full season and a pup that this is her first(she's a welsh fox hound x harrier) other 2 are harrier. i hunt foxes. use the hounds to bolt to lurchers or run foxes to gound for terriers,or just get a good hunt.
Yeah, i put them out to lurchers as well but i take them out and let them get a good hunt too. They'll hunt hares as well and noticed this last while they hunt pheasants too. They've just turned two and a half years. I'll put you sum pics up i take this sunday on thl so u can get a look at them
do that. i'll put a pic or two of mine. mine hunt hare too but i try and keep them off them, although some days your glad of a hunt off a hare when there's no foxes about.
a huntsman once said to me about hounds"they'll hunt a fox before anything....but they'll hunt anything rather then hunt nothing".
